Paget's Disease
#1
Paget's disease is a chronic bone disorder that results in the abnormal thickening and weakening of bone tissue. This can lead to bone pain, deformities, fractures, and an increased risk of osteoarthritis. Paget's disease is more common in older adults and is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. The exact cause is not known, but it is believed to involve a disturbance in the normal balance between bone resorption (breakdown) and bone formation. Treatment may include pain relievers, physical therapy, and medications to slow down the progression of the disease. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary.
